“There.”

“Where?”

“Down there.”

“Where?”

Vagina. Say it out loud with me, V-A-G-I-N-A.

She is central to our being and defines our sex. She is an awesome body part that enables reproduction and orgasm. Then why can’t we recognize her properly? Why do we give her nicknames? Why do we treat her like a mistress who can’t be mentioned openly and brings us embarrassment?

“Stories Down There” is a catalogue that records experiences with sex, gender and identity. Compiling an album of diverse personas, we caption their unique episodes of experiences and interpretations about (the Vagina). Through accounts of childhood experiences, clarifications of misconceptions, and illustrations of personal habits and daily anecdotes, we contemplate how social taboos and standards have shaped sexuality, and more importantly, deciding what the Vagina and our body mean to us. We hope to let something delicate and personal out of the closet and liberate expressions of sexuality and put forward the notion that discussions about the topic should not be associated with shame, and reclaim the Vagina and our female body in general as an integral part of the lives of both men and women.
