MICHAEL CHAN
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Michael completed his college education in the States and worked in California for two years before he was reunited with his family in August 2013. He's inspired by the continuous new scientific discovery about the brain, and admires anyone who devotes their entire life to pursuing their interests. His favorite movie is Sympathy for Lady Vengeance by Park Chan-wook. He never feels guilty about having snack food, particularly Pocky and Coca Cola gummies.

CINDY CHENG
Being a boring law student on weekdays, Cindy derives great comfort from eating shit tons of chocolate, binge watching intense TV series such as How To Get Away with Murder and movies, singing and dancing (fine - and consuming huge amounts of alcohol) on weekends. Her all-time favourite film is "Before Midnight", the third in a trilogy featuring a man and a woman who spent one romantic day together in "Before Sunrise" and reconnect nine years later in "Before Sunset". Cindy is a strong believer of true love and her life goal is to encounter a charming talented man like Richard Linklater (the writer and director of the "Before" trilogy) who would sweep her off her feet (no she’s not kidding - don't judge).

JIYOUNG CHOI
Jiyoung arrived in Hong Kong for her undergraduate degree last year after spending her teenage years in Korea, China and Canada. She tries hard to explore about herself, especially about what makes her happy. She is also interested in knowing what makes other people happy. Jiyoung admires anyone who keeps exploring themselves and people who make small changes for a better world. Wanting to be one of them, she organized local TEDx events back in Korea. American Chef is one of her favorite movies and red velvet cupcakes are her all time favorite food. She also loves doing Korean traditional sewing.

ANA HAN
Ana was born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in Hong Kong.
She loves sharing the boundless energy she has with others, through all types of means: in this case, that would be acting.
What inspires her: anything that makes her feels alive, and that assures her that she is leading a life with excitement
Her favorite film: definitely "Devil Wears Prada". The movie really speaks on the deeper message about the “girls’ world”, that it is more than just the looks.
Who she admires: all people who strive for a better future, whether that’d be about working on world hunger, gender inequality, honor killing, education inequality, or many more. This world needs more positivity.
Guilty pleasure snack food: Haagen Daz’s Crispy Sandwich, specifically the salted caramel flavor. The calorie’s not the only thing that’s high with this one, but the price as well…

RAMA KULKARNI
Rama is a budding poet who finds a great deal of inspiration in feminism, trees, and several books; most recently she has developed a deep admiration for Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her writing. Although it’s painfully male-centric, she also can’t help but intensely love Dead Poets Society (you didn’t hear it from me, but she cries at the end of the movie EVERY TIME). Being vegan, her culinary options are somewhat restricted, but she can be found snacking on chips fairly regularly, although feeling guilty about eating food she likes is something she gave up a long time ago.

TERESA LEE
There is a lengthy list of things that inspires Teresa, like her unorganized wardrobe that prompts her creativity. Among all, traveling stimulated her the most. She loves expecting the unexpected, reminding her to be daring. Teresa admits she is forgetful, but when it comes to traveling, memories stay. It was her last night at Poland when she was a few bucks short to pay my bill. Instead of calling the police, the owner grinned, gave her a heart-warming hug, and said “tomorrow maybe”. She is dedicated to Matcha flavoured products and “Eat Pray Love” is always the movie to watch when Teresa has to rediscover herself.

TIANYIN LIU
Tianyin is a nature and people lover: earth and sky, woods and fields, the mountain and the sea, are excellent masters who teach her what books cannot. The developmental track, emotions, personalities, and dynamics between people captivate her and led her to pursue a higher degree in Psychology. Tianyin’s all-time favorite film is Léon: The Professional, and she truly admires Natalie Portman for her acting in this debut and later films, partially also because Portman obtained a degree in Psychology from Tianyin’s dream university. Her guilty pleasure snack food are all types of chips.

MARIA SCHMIDT
Born and raised with three older brothers in Berlin, Maria is an undergraduate student of International Relations at King’s College London, currently on a full-year exchange at HKU. Believing that education should be gained from more than what one reads in books or hears within the walls of a classroom, Maria’s parents encouraged and enabled her to travel to over 40 countries worldwide. She finds inspiration in experiencing other cultures and long midnight-conversations, and is convinced that life is how we respond to it. Sunshine, Kinder Schoko-Bons and a big hug is her cure to turn a bad day into a good one.

KEISHA SIRIBOE
Keisha has always admired the silent grace and dignity of Maya Angelou. Even in Angelou’s passing she still plays her Youtube videos religiously. Angelou was an international woman of the world traveling as a dancer back in the 1960's. How could Keisha not be inspired by her example as she traverses around Asia, admonishing her insecurities and boldly being her natural self - big hair, chocolate skin, and everything in between.
When asked her all time favorite film, she found it impossible to narrow her choices down to one winner-take-all scenario. So she will share her current favourite; she was smitten by the movie "The Fault in Our Stars". She watched it twice in three days, that is one heck of a compliment, because she rarely has time to indulge in a movie. She doesn't consider herself a fan of romantic comedies but this movie, (sigh), struck a chord with her. She thinks it was the deep thoughtfulness of the main male character that won her over.
A guilty pleasure snack food for her are moist red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. They're so delicious that she is normally tempted to buy several and not share.

SHARON SIU
Sharon is a recent graduate from law school at the University of Hong Kong. She regards herself a (non-)typical law student who occasionally finds court judgments and 10-inch thick law books amusing. Her favourite pastimes are, in the following order, sipping a nice cup of coffee or English tea with wholemeal biscuits, reading books (not law-related) and sleeping in. Sharon also enjoys watching Meryl Streep’s films (especially when she manages to wake up early on weekends) and her all-time favourite is the Bridges of Madison County. Owing to her obsession with observing people, Sharon is constantly inspired by fellow human beings, the weird ones in particular. She would love to be inspired by you one day.

JANE TO
Jane is a business student, a sister, and a pretty cool friend. She likes to take a pretty chill way in life, as she believes that if you have put your 100% effort in everything, then you should take the consequences as it is, whether it is good or bad; so as long as she has committed enough, she will accept whatever the results may be. This is who she is.
All-time favorite film: anything directed by Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Nolan, or Peter Jackson.
Who she admires: Leonardo DiCaprio
Guilty pleasure snack food: the most clique of all foods…chocolate

The Vagina Monologues is an award-winning play by Eve Ensler and it is based on interviews with more than 200 women. It celebrates women’s sexuality and strength and has given voice to experiences and feelings rarely exposed in public, bringing a deeper consciousness to the conversation around ending violence against women and girls.
ABOUT THE PLAY
OUR CAST
STEPHANIE CHUNG
Stephanie is a child at heart who lets herself indulge in silliness whenever she can. A lover of culture, Stephanie minored in anthropology during her years at Brandeis University and taught herself to read and write Korean. If she could have all the time in the world, she would travel and continue pursuing her passion in taekwondo, dance and muay Thai.

REBECCA FANNING
Originally from London, Rebecca is an undergraduate student of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent, currently on a year exchange at HKU. As a trumpet scholar at Kent, Rebecca is more accustomed to playing in a large orchestra or band than flying solo but is always trying to push herself to try new things. Rebecca is an unconventional student and enjoys nothing better than an early morning, eating her breakfast by the window of her 18th floor apartment and looking out over Hong Kong and feeling inspired to get ‘out there’ and learn new things.
Rebecca loves Asian desserts including anything flavoured with red bean, matcha and especially black sesame!
